Artist Statement
Experimentation is the biggest driving force behind my work. What started as curiosity has since evolved into its own conceptual identity. I do not have any interest in placing an overwhelming amount of focus on narrative, realism, or symbolism. Rather, my drive to create stems from a fascination with mark-making as well as the interactive and reactive relationships of color. In other words, my work is driven by the experience of creating in itself. My work looks to challenge the assumption that art should be labeled and confined, free to be ambiguous, embraced for the unique blend of energy and layers of experience that make up existence. For me, inspiration comes more from the waves of experience and tendencies to hyper-focus on the smallest details. The best aspects of creating art always occur through inconsequential experience or repeated layers of incidental cogitation; mindful experimentation.
